Former foster care youth defy odds with assist from JLM3 Scholars Program

A trio of James L. Moore III (JLM) Scholars who were once part of the state's foster care system have beaten long odds and are on track to graduate this May with degrees from The Ohio State University.

AT&T Ohio leaders offer scholarship lifeline to JLM3 Scholars

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, AT&T officials paid a visit to Hale Hall to meet with students from the Dr. James L. Moore III Scholars Program (JLM3) and present a check providing additional funding for the pipeline program.

The $40,000 check supported scholarships for JLM3 Scholars for this academic year as well as last year. “This is the best part of this job,” said Molly Kocour Boyle, president of AT&T Ohio, who attended the meeting to learn more about the staff and students within the program and what it means to them.

ODI Scholar tackling food crisis selected as National Youth of the Year

A first-year Morrill Scholar with a lifelong passion for working to fight food insecurity issues was named the 2022 National Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in late October.

It may have been a dark and stormy night outside, but inside the rooms were abuzz with warm conversation as scores of corporate recruiters and students mingled at the ODI Career Day event at Ohio Stadium on October 18.

Nearly 80 companies and more than 200 ODI Scholars participated in the evening networking event held in the suite area of the iconic Horseshoe. As recruiters in company pullovers stood behind tables loaded with swag—Cintas coozie anyone?—students armed with fresh resumes sought to make a sharp impression in professional attire.

n 2022, Chick-fil-A awarded 12,699 Team Members with scholarships. Twelve of those Team Members got an extra special surprise when they were invited to the Chick-fil-A Support Center to be part of a restaurant uniform test; Instead, Chick-fil-A surprised them with life-changing scholarships of $25,000 per person.
