Latine Student Success

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion's Latine Student Success (LSS) team works to cultivate Latine-centered communities for academic, social, and professional support. The LSS team welcomes all students who want to engage with their peers in strengths-based leadership development and skill building with a Latine focus. Participate in collaborative and community-based projects, in mentoring or service activities, or just drop in to connect with us. The LSS team is here to serve students, staff, and faculty of the Ohio State.

Latine Early Arrival Program

The Latine Early Arrival Program is a four-day residential program for incoming first-year students. Before the start of the autumn semester, the Latine EAP prepares students for university life by providing educational and resourceful workshops, engaging presentations, and team-building activities. LSS programs use a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach to four core themes: academic success, empowerment, wellbeing, and service.

LSS Leadership Institute

The LSS Leadership Institute brings a Latine lens to a comprehensive year-long empowerment program for first-year and transfer students. We partner with UnidosUS to deliver the Avanzando Through College Leadership Program, a series of culturally-relevant workshops and activities on topics such as study skills, public speaking and relationship-building with professors and advisors. Additionally, cultural conversations and community-building activities are interwoven throughout the institute. LSS programs use a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach to four core themes: academic success, empowerment, wellbeing, and service.

Conversaciones con Café

A monthly event series coordinated by the LSS team, CCC programs unite Latinx-identifying students for conversations and activities that strengthen academic achievement, cultivate a sense of identity on campus, and/or serve the greater Columbus community.

SACNAS Bound Buckeyes

SACNAS Bound Buckeyes promotes undergraduate student STEM research engagement through travel scholarships to national conferences and coaching sessions to develop presentation skills. Cosponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Undergraduate research office.
