The University of Cincinnati LSAMP site provides an educational environment to meet the three goals, academic integration, social integration and professionalization of the LSAMP program. Students from Arts & Science, Allied Health and the College of Engineering and Applied Science participate in the program.
All LSAMP Scholars participate in the Dr. Edward N. Prather Summer Bridge Program, a seven-week residential program that seeks to enhance their academic preparedness for the freshman year. The scholars are required to participate in a series of academic year student success activities and programs
All LSAMP Scholars are offered the opportunity to live together in University’s Impact House for the freshman year. Scholars are required to participate in STEM related community engagement activities during the summer bridge and the academic year.
Letter from Whitney B. Gaskins
Dear LSAMP Community:
On behalf of the University of Cincinnati (UC), I wanted to welcome you to the online home for the University of Cincinnati office of the Ohio Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (OH-LSAMP) program. The scholarship program is funded by the National Science Foundation. OH-LSAMP aims to increase the number of under-represented minority students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) areas.
The University of Cincinnati is honored to participate in the Ohio LSAMP Alliance. We are striving to increase the number of students earning bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree graduates in STEM disciplines in the Ohio labor workforce.
In addition to first-year scholarship, we offer professional development and research opportunities for our students. We provide in-depth advising and mentoring, and opportunities to take courses with other outstanding STEM students, attend STEM workshops and seminars.
In order to participate in the LSAMP program, incoming freshman are required to participate in the Dr. Edward N. Prather Summer Bridge Program. The summer bridge program is a seven-week residential program that offers the necessary skills and knowledge to make a seamless transaction to college while taking first year courses. LSAMP students receive a scholarship to assist with cost of room and board. For more information on the LSAMP program please feel free to reach to me at whitney.gaskins@uc.edu or via phone at (513) 556-5898.
Yours in STEM,
