Internship/Fellowship/Research and Other Opportunities
James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program
Gaither Junior Fellows provide research assistance to scholars working within Carnegie’s programs. They will conduct research, contribute to op-eds, papers, reports, and books, edit documents, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony and organize briefings attended by scholars, activists, journalists and government officials.
To learn more about this opportunity, the Undergraduate Fellowship Office is hosting an information session and workshop on October 24 at 11 am, via Zoom. Joined by 2023-2024 Gaither Junior Fellow and Ohio State alumna, Caroline Mallory, we will discuss the objectives of the fellowship, eligibility requirements, and the application process. Participants will also engage in guided brainstorming processes to generate content for their application essays.

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies
This summer, the Cincinnati Insurance Companies are planning for around 110 spots ranging from undergraduate-level IT Developer and Accounting to graduate-level I/O Psych and PhD Actuarial Interns. In addition to our internships, we have around 120 full-time postings on our career site. Our company and industry are far more than many realize and we have opportunities for all majors!

LSAMP Alliance Program Assistant
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) invites applications for the position of program assistant for the Ohio State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program. LSAMP is a program of the National Science Foundation with the purpose of increasing the number of historically underrepresented minority (URM) students with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This is 100% National Science Foundation grant-funded position. The program assistant reports to the program manager of The Ohio LSAMP Alliance. Flexible work arrangement that is appropriate for job responsibilities, as approved by ODI administration and immediate supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute the daily operations of the Ohio State LSAMP program.
- Plan, deliver, manage, and evaluate programming activities for approximately 80 scholars, under the direction of the program manager.
- Maintain updated records of student enrollment in LSAMP and participation in programming activities and opportunities
- Initiate payments to students, vendors, contractors, staff, and consultants; supports business travel needs, expense reports, and payables submissions.
- Plan, deliver, manage, and evaluate collaborative activities between Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College LSAMP Scholars that promote and foster a smooth transition from community college to a four-year institution.
- Serve as co-advisor of the LSAMP Student Organization.
- Assist the program manager in the preparation of reports, such as those required by the alliance director and funding agency.
- Maintain certification and trainings needed to work with students (e.g., OnCourse, suicide prevention, Title IX, FERPA, Institutional Data Policy).
- Manage and foster communication through media relations, social media, and the Ohio State LSAMP website.
- Represent Ohio State LSAMP within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and across the Ohio State campus in various campus events and committees.
- Support the initiatives and objectives of The Ohio LSAMP Alliance through involvement in alliance-wide programming, meetings, and communications.
