Latinx Student Success

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion's Latinx Student Success (LSS) team works to cultivate Latinx communities for academic, social, and professional support. The LSS team promotes full inclusion of Latinx students and seeks to raise the visibility of Latinx groups on campus. Through high impact programs and collaborations, the LSS team is here to serve students, staff, and faculty of the Ohio State Latinx community.

MESA: Early Arrival Program

The MESA: Early Arrival Program is a four-day residential program for incoming first-year Latinx students. Before the start of the autumn semester, MESA: EAP prepares students for university life by providing educational and resourceful workshops, engaging presentations, and team-building activities. MESA programs are centralized around four core themes: Mentorship, Empowerment, Service, and Academic Success.

MESA: Leadership Institute

The MESA: Leadership Institute is a comprehensive semester-long empowerment program for first-year Latinx students. The Leadership Institute partners a small cohort of first-year Latinx students with peer mentors and provides evidence-based workshops on social, academic, and professional success. Additionally, cultural conversations and community-building activities are interwoven throughout the institute. MESA programs are centralized around four core themes: Mentorship, Empowerment, Service, and Academic Success.

A monthly event series coordinated by the LSS team, CCC programs unite Latinx-identifying students for conversations and activities that strengthen academic achievement, cultivate a sense of identity on campus, and/or serve the greater Columbus community.

SACNAS Bound Buckeyes

SACNAS Bound Buckeyes promotes undergraduate student STEM research engagement through travel scholarships to national conferences and coaching sessions to develop presentation skills. Cosponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Undergraduate research office.
