Internship, research and fellowship opportunities provide students with a way to gain experience in specific areas and provide an important step to building a solid career.

2022-2023 Health Equity Scholars Program at Ohio State

Mission: To prepare students at The Ohio State University with advanced education and skills to guide the generation or implementation of evidence to improve health equity in our community.
Vision: To build a cadre of future diversity leaders who will have knowledge and skills to improve health outcomes in diverse populations.
Purpose: To provide interprofessional undergraduate and graduate students across Ohio State with an opportunity to expand upon their knowledge and skills to improve health outcomes in diverse populations through a lens of equity and inclusion.

Opportunity/Goals

  • Build a unique pathway for students across the university to build their portfolio of skills related to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Deepen faculty research/scholarship in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Expand the university's impact on addressing health equity in our community to improve outcomes

Eligibility Criteria for Health Equity Scholars

  • Undergraduate and graduate/professional students enrolled at Ohio State any academic major ,including regional campuses, are eligible to participate; term of scholars: 1 year
  • Students must form an interprofessional team of two AND have a commitment from an Ohio Statef aculty member to serve as mentor for this program to participate.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Desire to work on a university-supported health equity project, including dissemination of work to be submitted for local, state, national or international paper, poster, or podium presentations
  • Participate in learning and skills building activities, aligning with the University Strategic Plan

Applications must be submitted by the student by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. One student is responsible for submitting an application packet on behalf of the team. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will be notified of the outcomes of their application by June 30, 2022, via email.

Goodyear Supply Chain Operations Internship Program

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is looking for talented leaders to significantly strengthen its global leadership depth and play an integral role in the current and future success of the organization. Students entering the Supply Chain Operations Internship will be placed in either North America, Latin America or Global Operations Supply Chain all based in the Global Headquarters in Akron, Ohio. Each intern will be assigned a project for the duration of the assignment. The goal of this internship is to provide interns working experience in a global company and exposure to Supply Chain Leadership. Assigned projects will be a “real life,” value added, business project that can tied back to classroom learning. Ultimately, this internship is designed to build competencies for potential future placement upon graduation into Goodyear's full-time development program in North America.

EmPOWERment NSF Research Traineeship Program Fellowship Opportunities

EmPOWERment is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year from current and prospective PhD students to The Ohio State University with an interest in sustainable energy. Prospective and first-year PhD students who are accepted into EmPOWERment will be considered for a highly prestigious and competitive one-year fellowship opportunity funded by National Science Foundation that provides full funding to help support the trainee's PhD studies and participation in the program during their second year in the program.

EmPOWERment encourages and supports the participation of underrepresented minorities and women.

About EmPOWERment
EmPOWERment offers PhD students in any discipline the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary training in energy-system modeling, data science, energy policy, business, energy technologies, and legal, economic, and social-behavioral issues to address the challenges facing a sustainable energy future. EmPOWERment trainees are immersed in coursework, research, experiential-learning opportunities, a student community of like-minded individuals, and opportunities that are designed to introduce them to the unique challenges facing the advancement of sustainable energy systems. Trainees gain an in-depth knowledge of every facet of the sustainable energy landscape through a unique interdisciplinary experience that combines research, education, and communication training. Working together with faculty, industry mentors, and fellow trainees, EmPOWERment students prepare to become the next generation of innovative leaders in sustainable energy.

Participation in EmPOWERment is contingent upon enrollment in a PhD program and prospective PhD students to Ohio State are highly encouraged to apply. EmPOWERment is designed to supplement a student's PhD studies and is not a standalone PhD program.

2022 Disability Research Mentorship Program for Black Graduate Students

CQL created the Disability Research Mentorship Program for Black Graduate Students in recognition that academic/research job candidates are judged on their history of publications and presentations, yet, systemic racism impacts who gets funding and research opportunities. For this reason, CQL's research Mentorship Program aims to provide Black students with opportunities to build up their resumes with research publications.

This Mentorship Program provides students with access to data and helps students develop a peer-review journal article using this data. Our hope is that by the end of the Mentorship Program students will have an accepted/in-press journal article (sole or first author) which they can add to their CV. Students will also have an opportunity to present their work if they wish to do so.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until this year's mentorship student/s have been selected. We will begin reviewing applications at the end of May 2022.

Loyola University Chicago Institute for Racial Justice Postdoctoral Fellowship Initiative

The Institute for Racial Justice (IRJ) at Loyola University Chicago is launching a Postdoctoral Fellowship Initiative. The goal of the Initiative is to build pathways for generations of scholars who will advance intersectional, interdisciplinary research that centers on racial justice and drives structural change. The IRJ will support scholars and equip them with resources and networks to conduct change-making research, create transformational educational experiences, and build translational community partnerships.

This year's cohort will focus on the following areas:

  1. Economic Justice
  2. Educational Justice
  3. Environmental Justice

Each fellow receives the following:

  • $70K salary and benefits (2-year appointment starting July 1)
  • Funding for professional development activities
  • Funding to pay mentors for their time
  • Access to graduate student research support

Propel Postdoctoral Scholars Program

Launched in 2021, the Stanford School of Medicine's Propel Postdoctoral Scholars Program seeks to attract and train talented postdocs who would bring diversity (broadly defined) to the future professoriate in the biological, biomedical, and population-based sciences. We provide funding support, including salary, as well as community-building activities, academic career preparation courses, workshops, and seminars to foster career development and leadership skills, as well as opportunities to enhance key skills in grant writing, science communication, networking, and mentoring.

Health Policy Institute of Ohio Health Policy Analyst

We are seeking health policy analyst candidates who have:

University Registrar Student Assistant

The Student Assistant position within the University Registrar requires a highly dependable, highly motivated student to work among the University Registrar's administrative support team. The student assistant will be responsible for assisting the University Registrar Operations Team with general office duties including front desk coverage, answering phones, data entry, mail, and email management system. The Student Assistant will work to provide help to any faculty, students, special investigators, or staff who calls or visits the office. The Student Assistant will be assigned to assist with special projects and routine tasks for Academic Records, Transfer Credit, and any additional unit within the University Registrar as needed. The Student Assistant will be required to engage in on-going Buckeye Learn, Supervisor-led, and Peer-led training.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Enrolled student at Ohio State University
  • Ability to understand and adhere to institutional policy, procedures, and guidelines
  • Ability to collaborate within a team
  • Ability to communicate, written and verbally
  • Experience with general Microsoft Office applications

Essential Duties:

70% - Serves as a customer service point of contact for the main office phone line. Position will triage immediate customer issues and/or route to appropriate campus office. Student assistant will help maintain and update reference and resource materials. Additionally, serve as resource support on behalf of Academic Records, Transfer Credit, and other units within the University Registrar's office as needed. Welcome and help any faculty, students, special investigators, or staff who call or visits the office. Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe, software applications, and email management system.

10% - Assist with projects and routine tasks as needed from Operations, Academic Records, Transfer Credit, and/or other units within the University Registrar's office.

10% - General operational duties including front desk coverage, mail, office supply inventory, and maintaining workstation.

10% - Engage in on-going training through Buckeye Learn, Supervisor-led, and Peer training.

Financial Analyst in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs

Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, the resource planning analyst supports annual budget planning, implementation, and administration and operations for the college; develops, updates and maintains financial dashboards that can be segmented by various programs and funding sources; constructs data models and projection tools in support of long-range academic planning; provides guidance, expertise, and instruction to department administrative and financial staff on preparation of annual budgets and use of templates and report functions in budget system; identifies concerns and constraints with variance and projections; directs colleges' fiscal associate and department administrators to make adjustments and/or corrections as needed; conducts in-depth financial analysis of complex fiscal reports; manages multiple sources of funding, which may include sponsored research and federal restricted funds, grants, and contracts; assist users in access setup and training for users in Workday, Tableau and other relevant fiscal systems.
