Latin American Music Celebration: Guests Ana Barros, percussion and Cecilia Zabala, guitar

Description

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15), the School of Music welcomes guest artists Ana Letícia Barros, percussion, and Cecilia Zabala guitar, presenting a joint recital. These guest artist residencies are made possible by a collaboration between the School of Music, Center for Latin American Studies, and the College of Arts and Sciences new Faculty Project Grant. 

Barros performs selected vibraphone solo works by Cyro Delvízio, Sergio Roberto de Oliveira and Marcos Vieira Lucas. Zabala plays her own solo guitar compositions as well as pieces by Chacho Echeñique and Hermanos Simón. The artists collaborate on selections by Zabala and Philippe Baden Powell, Egberto Gismonti, Luiz Gonzaga, and Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim.

This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
