Erica Wicks, ‘07, ’09 MA : Vice President, Community Manager at JPMorganChase

What was your path to graduation from The Ohio State University?

Erica Wicks, a Black woman, in a black leather top

I started as a Finance and Real Estate major because I knew these specializations were going to be foundational to my future career success in the business world. I also knew I wanted to make a positive impact in the community, which further led me to an interest in city & regional planning. Combined, I graduated with degrees in finance, real estate, city and regional planning, and public policy with a mission to solve problems.

Why do you support the Office of Diversity and Inclusion?

It was life-changing for me to earn an Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) scholarship that jumpstarted my academic journey and career. Through ODI, I was able to gain exposure to many opportunities, and most importantly, establish many long-lasting relationships that I still thankfully have today.

What do you do now?

For the past ten years, I've worked for JPMorganChase (JPMC). My current role as a Community Manager involves addressing the racial wealth gap and advancing economic inclusion among underserved customers and communities as part of JPMC's $30 billion Racial Equity Commitment.

What advice would you give to future Buckeyes?

Stay true to yourself as you evolve 2) Take in all the moments along your journey 3) Learn to recognize and quiet the outside noise – it can distract you.
