Sara Childers, PhD

Assistant Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence

Dr. Sara M. Childers (she/her/hers) is the Assistant Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence at Ohio State University. A first-generation college drop-out from West Virginia, she eventually made her way to Ohio State where she completed four degrees, including a doctorate in Educational Policy. Prior to returning to Ohio State in 2016 to join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, she served as a faculty member at the University of Alabama where she taught courses in educational research. She's published in top-tier education journals and edited collections, and she received two awards for her 2017 book, “Urban Educational Identity: Seeing Students on Their Own Terms,” a two-year ethnographic study teaching and learning at a high-achieving, high-poverty metropolitan high school.
