“From Debate to Dialogue: Conversation Strategies to Build Connection Across Difference” is a cross-institutional training series presented by the OAA Inclusive Excellence unit, The Drake Center for Teaching and Learning, and American University Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning. The training is also a qualifying event for the Inclusive Teaching Endorsement, offered through our campus partners at the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.

This is a 2-day training opportunity will be offered in June and August.  In the June training participants will learn to apply essential skills necessary to building affirming dialogue in the workplace and classroom. The August session will focus specifically on the classroom and will cover topics such as: how to create community agreements, how to address issues of psychological safety, policies that impact classroom interactions and discussions, and skills instructors need to facilitate dialogue and how to translate and share those skills with their students
