Ohio State Upward Bounders attend Ohio TRiO Leadership Conference

Upward Bound students at 2017 Leadership Conference

Ohio TRiO is one of several associations committed to advocating on behalf of TRiO Programs, to bring together into a work and study community, those persons who have an active interest in or who are professionally involved in broadening accessibility to and success in formal postsecondary education. One venue to increase accessibility and success is through the Ohio TRiO Student Leadership Conference. The conference is two days of workshops, speakers, and activities designed for underrepresented middle, high school and college TRiO students from across Ohio.

Four of our Ohio State Upward Bounders (pictured from left to right, Tyree Grace-Sawyer, Deja Reid, Maia Lee, and Asali Hamilton) were able to attend this two-day event held at the Great Wolf Lodge in Cincinnati, OH on February 23-25. The conference offered dynamic keynote speakers, group project workshops, and various social activities. In addition to the leadership activities and workshops, students were able to visit the waterpark located in the hotel, dress up for the Ohio TRiO Conference dance, and show their talent in the conference talent show. It was truly an amazing event that brought many students together to share their ideas and express themselves...TRiO Style!
