TWP Faculty Fellow

Faculty Fellow – OAA/Office of Diversity and Inclusion – The Women’s Place

Overview

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) invites applications for a Faculty Fellow in The Women's Place, Ohio State's office for promoting women's advancement and gender equity. This 50% appointment is open to internal clinical- and tenure-track associate professors and professors from any disciplinary background and campus.

The Women's Place promotes a vision of the university that supports all women to thrive, advance, and make their full contributions within an environment characterized by equity, freedom, and dignity for all people. Our work centers around the goal of catalyzing change at Ohio State by focusing on these four areas: policy review and advocacy, culture and climate change, leadership development, and reporting the status of women.

Building from a 2022 external review and subsequent action plan for the unit, TWP is poised to leverage new insights and opportunities as a thought-leader on gender equity in higher education. The incoming faculty fellow will join The Women's Place director in devising and implementing a five-year strategic plan with associated initiatives, outcomes, and enhanced audiences.

The aim of the faculty fellow position is not only to enable TWP to draw on the faculty member's subject matter expertise, but also to enhance faculty members' leadership skills that may translate to subsequent administrative opportunities. In particular, the role aims to bridge the gap between the skills foregrounded in faculty research and those skills that benefit administrators by providing immersive leadership experiences, collaboration, and feedback. Working at TWP enables fellows to learn more about higher education matters such as these: program development, human resources, budget management, personnel, policy advocacy and implementation, faculty affairs, community outreach, communications, and more.

The position reports to the TWP director. This one-year appointment (50% Full-time Effort) may be renewable for an additional year subject to continuing funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Primary responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting an impact assessment of TWP's faculty leadership program, the President and Provost's Leadership Institute (PPLI), and Staff Leadership Series (SLS) through data collection and analysis, interviews and focus groups
  • Facilitating workshops and presentations in university-wide professional development series
  • Conducting research on workplace best practices for women's career success to enable The Women's Place to advocate for inclusive policies
  • Analyzing data trends for the publication of the Report on the Status of Women at Ohio State
  • Cultivating relationships with community partners, including YWCA, Women's Fund of Ohio, WELD, and Zora's House to align TWP with the region as a leader in advancing gender equity
  • Co-authoring grant proposals and reports for internal and external funding
