Dear Ohio State Community:
On behalf of the university, I want to thank Buckeyes everywhere who are contributing to the fight against the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). We are all in this together. Many of you are on the front lines, continuing to deliver critical services and much-needed health care. We deeply appreciate what you are doing to keep us safe.
For most of us, the best way to be helpful at this unprecedented time in our history is to stay at home to stop the spread of the disease. COVID-19 is the enemy. That enemy is only able to survive and thrive if it can pass from host to host. This can be prevented by staying at home, seriously practicing social distancing and always maintaining best hygiene practices.
If you are an Ohio State employee, you should not come to campus unless you are needed to maintain critical services. These services include law enforcement and public safety; hospitals and health services; child care; limited meal preparation and service; facility utilities; and residential support. Vice presidents and deans will make determinations related to working on campus in these areas.
I want to reiterate our sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors, public safety employees, student life staff and others on whom we are counting to provide critical services. And thank you to those doing everything you can to isolate and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Special appreciation also goes to our faculty, staff and students preparing to transition to virtual learning next week, ensuring that we continue to advance our educational mission.
I hear from alumni, friends and partners every day – and they all express their full support of your efforts and ongoing work to uplift the communities we serve.
Please stay well and be safe.
