ODI Education Abroad Scholarship

In 2006, Dr. Mac Stewart, Vice Provost for the then Office of Minority Affairs, created the World Service Program to provide education abroad scholarship opportunities to underrepresented students. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion continues that support for underrepresented student participation in education abroad through the ODI Education Abroad Scholarship program. For the 2018-2019 academic year, ODI will grant awards between $500 and $1000 to ODI Scholars who are admitted to Ohio State education abroad programming that occurs during Spring semester or Spring Break 2019, May/Summer 2019 and Fall semester 2019.

Criteria: Strong preference will be given to:

  • Students who have no prior study abroad and/or international travel experience

  • Full-time, degree seeking undergraduate, graduate or professional students in good academic standing who engage in ODI programming and services

  • Active application to an Ohio State approved Spring or Spring Break 2019, May/Summer 2019 or Fall Semester education abroad program

Application Deadlines: There are two application deadlines, depending on your intended term of education abroad:

  • If you are participating in a Spring Semester or Spring Break 2019 program, your application deadline was Thursday, November 1, 2018.

  • If you are participating in a May, Summer or Fall Semester 2019 program, your application deadline is Monday, January 14, 2019.

Please note: students admitted to the Brazil Higher Education Spring Break program or the Between France and Morocco Program are not eligible for the ODI Education Abroad Scholarship.

Please apply by the appropriate application deadline above and be prepared to attach a 250-300 statement in WORD that addresses why you are motivated to study abroad.

Late and/or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
