ODI Scholars support Jesse Owens Jog
Over 150 ODI Scholars took part in the 2019 Jesse Owens jog, a 2.62-mile fun run & walk, held in partnership by the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, the Columbus Urban League, and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, which focuses on African-American health and wellness.
Now in its fifth year, the Jesse Owens Jog pays tribute to an Ohio native who ran for and graduated from The Ohio State University and won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics. For the 2019 event, ODI partnered with the Jesse Owens Jog, providing ODI Scholars the opportunity to walk or jog to raise money to benefit the Jesse Owens Foundation, Nationwide Children's Hospital's infant mortality efforts, the Columbus Urban League, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
The Jesse Owens Jog is supported by community partners in the Columbus Urban League, Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Columbus Recreation & Parks Department, The Ohio State University Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Black Girls Run and Black Men Run. The Jesse Owens Jog is supported by corporate partners in USA Track & Field, Nike, Dick's Sporting Goods, G&J Pepsi and by its media partners in WBNS-10TV “Commit to be Fit” and Run OHIO.
