ODI welcomes back students

On Thursday, August 23, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) welcomed first year scholars at its First Year Student Convocation, hosted the Family Affair and Reunion, and brought together new and returning graduate and professional students at the Graduate and Professional Student Orientation and Networking Reception.

ODI’s First Year Student Convocation started off the day for new ODI Scholars. They heard remarks from Provost Bruce McPherson and Vice provost for diversity and inclusion, James Moore, as well as from current ODI scholars. The message of the afternoon was that students were going to do great things and leave a mark.

A joint venture between the Student Life Multicultural Center and the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center, a Family Affair and Reunion brings students together with academic departments and Student Life units, and faculty and staff who identify with the African American community as members and allies.

At the Graduate and Professional Student Orientation and Networking Reception, new and returning graduate and professional students, in addition to faculty, staff and other Ohio State community guests, were formally welcomed to campus during the first week of fall semester.
