Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and The Women's Place are proud to be a sponsor of the 6th Annual Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference held in Blacksburg, Virginia on April 5-6, 2018.
The conference offers women of color faculty, university administrators, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduates a unique educational and professional opportunity to network, engage, and learn with peers from around the country.
The two-day conference features prominent women of color scholars as keynote speakers, panelists, performers, and workshop facilitators. This year’s speakers include Maria Hinojosa, host and executive producer of NPR’s Latino USA, and Brittney Cooper, author, professor, and co-founder of the Crunk Feminist Collective.
Participating in the conference is part of ODI and The Women’s Place efforts to not only retain women of color faculty at The Ohio State University but also to increase women faculty of color at the university: the most recent data show that among tenure track faculty, Black women comprise only 1.8%, Hispanic 1.55%, and Native Americans 0.07% percent of the total.
This year, The Ohio State University and ODI will be sending 13 representatives to the conference:
