LSS Staffer receives Staff Career Development grant

Michael Bustamante, program coordinator for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion's Latinx Student Success program, has been selected to receive a 2020-2021 Staff Career Development Grant. The grant, in the amount of $1250, will be used toward completion of a “Leading with Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Certificate” through the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business.

The certificate will provide Bustamante with additional skills and knowledge necessary to grow as a leader in the diversity and inclusion field.

“This would be the second grant awarded to Latinx Student Success this year, the first being an Integrated Physical Planning and Liaison Group grant for a nearly $25,000 complete renovation of LSS. I am excited to secure this award as it will allow me to continue learning about new trends and practices within diversity and inclusion,” said Bustamante.

The certificate also complements Bustamante's graduate work on a MA in Public Policy and Management at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

Founded in 2016, the Latinx Student Success (LSS) team within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion was established to address the needs, concerns, and priorities of the Latinx community at The Ohio State University. On the second floor of the historic Hale Hall, the LSS team promotes academic success and full inclusion of Latinx students, seeks to raise the visibility of Latinx groups on campus, and coordinates programming that cultivates Latinx communities for academic, social, cultural, and professional support.
