New LIWOC
Program Coordinator named

Gisell Jeter-BennettThe Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) would like to welcome Dr. Gisell Jeter-Bennett to a new role as program coordinator for Leadership Initiatives for Women of Color (LIWOC).

Dr. Jeter-Bennett brings an array of experience in student success and diversity in higher education, and she was among the women who helped establish the Black Women’s Retreat (now the Women of Color Retreat), a signature LIWOC event.  She has been part of the ODI team for a number of years as a graduate administrative assistant for the Young Scholars Program and a Bell Fellow in 2012-13. Recently, Gisell successfully defended her dissertation, “We’re going too: the children of the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement,” completing her doctorate in history.

We are pleased that Dr. Jeter-Bennett is turning her talents and experience to leadership development of our women of color students.
