Latine Early Arrival Program

The Latine Student Success (LSS) Early Arrival Program is coordinated by the Latine Student Success (LSS) Center within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. LSS EAP is a three-day in person program for incoming first-year Latine students that prepares students for university life by providing educational and resourceful workshops, engaging presentations, and team-building activities before the start of the school year. Further, EAP students will receive dates for check-ins once a month during the Autumn semester.

EAP students who successfully complete the three-day program are encouraged to submit an application, and are prioritized, for admission into the spring semester long Latine leadership series. The series partners a small cohort of first year Latine students with mentors and provides evidence-based workshops on social, academic, and professional success.

Mentee Expectations

LSS Early Arrival Program participant expectations:

  • Mentees are encouraged to attend the full early arrival program otherwise; housing fees may incur.
  • Mentees are encouraged to be authentic with mentors to forge a relationship grounded on mutual trust and respect.
  • Mentees should aim to establish a strong community bond through open communication among all other mentees, mentors, and with the program coordinator.
  • Mentees should be open-minded towards new experiences and willing to step outside of comfort zones to seek university resources, engage with campus life, and interact with staff and faculty.
