Help us honor Larry Williamson, Jr.

More than four decades after arriving at The Ohio State University as a young graduate student, Larry Williamson, Jr. retired on February 28, 2022, after 30 years as director of the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center. Part of Larry's legacy includes his curation of one of the top collections of African American art in the country. His legacy also lives on in the many student workers who came into the Hale Center as brilliant students but left as exceptional leaders.

Larry was an integral part of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Hale Center. Programs that flourished under his leadership and brought together cross sections of the university include the MLK Celebration, with its diversity icons, and the Thanksgiving Dinner.

To commemorate Larry's dedication to students, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites you to contribute to the Lawrence (Larry) Williamson, Jr. Scholarship, fund number 317534. The fund will provide scholarships to first-generation college students who are affiliated with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and demonstrate a passion for the arts and a commitment to community service.

By supporting this scholarship TODAY, you can amplify your recognition of Larry's immense legacy while empowering students to pursue their passions, unleash their talents and make a positive difference in our communities.
