Christian is a Florida native and a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Teaching and Learning. Her area of study is Literature for Children and Young Adults. She earned her Bachelors in English with a concentration in creative writing from the University of South Florida. She then became a high school English teacher where she observed the transformative power of reading and exposing students to a wide array of multicultural literature. Christian's teaching experience inspired her to return to USF where she earned her Master of Education in Secondary English with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. Christian is currently assisting with the Bell Center's Scholars Lounge, a program that aims to impact middle school students via engaging in culturally relevant reading materials and empowering students with mentorship and community building.
