Acosta, MD, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). As chief diversity and inclusion officer, Dr. David Acosta provides strategic vision and leadership for the AAMC’s diversity and inclusion activities across the medical education community, and leads the association’s Diversity Policy and Programs unit.

  • Explore the explanatory model of illness

  • Identify common home remedies (traditional medicines) and beliefs that might be encountered in providing health care for Latino patients

  • Describe common traditional illnesses and their treatments

  • Discuss types of traditional healers and the tools they use in healing practices
