Throughout his career, he has received numerous prestigious awards and honors from AERA. In 2017, he received the Scholars of Color Mid-Career Contribution Award and the Multicultural/Multiethnic Education Special Interest Group's Dr. Carlos J. Vallejo Memorial Award for Lifetime Scholarship; in 2016, the Distinguished Contributions to Gender Equity in Education Research Award; in 2008, Distinguished Scholar Award in Counseling–Division E; and, in 2005, the Early Career Award in Counseling–Division E. According to Education Week, a distinguished panel of educational scholars, in both 2018 and 2019, named Dr. Moore as one of the 200 most influential researchers who inform educational policy and practice in the United States.
In addition to his executive directorship and distinguished professorship, he also serves as the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer. “It is nice to be honored and recognized. Words cannot express this enough. Ohio State has certainly provided me an excellent platform to pursue my research agenda, as well as other professional endeavors that are very important to me,” says Dr. Moore.
As this year's recipient of the Social Justice in Education Award, he will deliver the Social Justice in Education Award Lecture at the 2019 Annual Meeting, scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Additionally, Dr. Moore will be honored at the Awards Celebration and Dessert on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the same location.
