ODI Blood Drive
Each year, ODI holds several blood drives, and for the 2023 Blood Battle, you helped us surpass our goals!
We hoped to have 22 people donate: we had 39 registered donors, with 31 of those being first-time donors. There were 27 whole blood donations and two double red donations for a total of 29 units.
That means 83 lives were saved!
Your incredible kindness and commitment helped us replenish our blood supply (especially of type O blood, the preferred transfusion type in emergencies), which will help local patients of all ethnic backgrounds enjoy more time with their families.

Did you know:
- To meet the needs of fellow Buckeyes, we have to collect about 60,000 units of blood every year
- 1,800 donors = 5,400 lives impacted
- Currently less than 15% of the blood needed by those patients is collected in Central Ohio
