Mandatory monthly workshops will take place at Community Properties of Ohio's Columbus Scholar House (located at 84 N. 17th Street) and on Ohio State's campus and will be facilitated by community partners, colleagues from within Ohio State’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and staff from various Ohio State departments and units.  Transportation is available to and from all monthly workshops (for mentees only).  Dinner will be served 30 minutes prior to the start of all workshops and child care is available for all CHAMPS participants during each monhly workshop.  A Wal-Mart Gift Card will be awarded to participants for each workshop attended.

Mentor Commitment

Mentors commit to one year of mentoring beginning in the fall. Mentors will attend leadership development trainings prior to the start of the program to assist in the mentoring and relationship building process. The trainings will cover program curriculum, mentor expectations, how to foster mentor/mentee relationships and mentor/mentee benefits.

The Relationship

During the fall, mentors and mentees will be matched based upon common interests and career goals. The pair will interact monthly during the eight month project via program workshops, emails and phone. We are hopeful that mentees and mentors will build long lasting relationships and keep in contact after graduation and beyond the umbrella of the CHAMPS Program.
