Leadership Initiatives for Women of Color
Mission
Our mission is to foster the development of women of color as leaders in the classroom, on campus, and in their surrounding communities.
Goals
To assist women of color in developing networks that increase their retention and graduation rates
To provide unique leadership development opportunities for women of color at The Ohio State University
To sponsor targeted programming that assists women of color in developing personal and academic strategies for professional success
To increase college and career access awareness among academically promising and ethnically diverse middle and high school girls
Measurable Priorities
We will identify unique academic and leadership development opportunities (scholarships, fellowships, conferences, etc.) for undergraduate women of color and assist them in applying for those opportunities
We will create a leadership-focused “Sisterfellows” Program supporting graduate women of color in the research and dissemination of scholarship by or about women of color
We will provide practical assistance to various university offices in identifying and communicating with academically promising and ethnically diverse middle and high school girls
We will increase the numbers of academically promising and ethnically diverse middle and high school girls enrolled in summer enrichment programs offered by The Ohio State University
