The Curriculum

Mentees will follow an 6 month curriculum consisting of workshops & programming on topics such as:

  • Relationship Building
  • Career & Major Exploration
  • Goal Setting
  • Financial Aid & College Admissions
  • Anger Management
  • Building Healthy Self-Esteem
  • Campus Tours

Workshops will take place on the OSU campus and will be facilitated by community partners, colleagues from within OSU’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and staff from various OSU departments and units.

Mentor Commitment

Mentors commit to one year of mentoring beginning in the fall of 2016. Mentors will attend  leadership development trainings provided by the Mentoring Center of Central Ohio to assist in the mentoring relationship process. The trainings will cover program curriculum, mentor expectations, how to foster mentor/mentee relationships and mentor/mentee benefits.

The Relationship

Mentors and mentees will be matched during the fall of 2016. The pair will interact monthly during the 8 month project via campus visits,  emails and phone.  We are hopeful that mentees and mentors will build long lasting relationships and keep in contact after graduation beyond the umbrella of the CHAMPS Project.
